Earlier this year, LGT VP engaged the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) to conduct a benchmarking survey with our partners to learn more about our performance as a funder.
CEP is a U.S.-based non-profit organization that provides funders with tools to improve overall foundation performance. With their Grantee Perception Report, a confidential survey of grantees, funders can gather honest feedback from their partners, and in response adjust their approach and strategy to better achieve common goals. Over the past ten years, CEP has surveyed over 100,000 grantees of more than 350 funders to build a dataset that allows foundations to assess their performance, as viewed by grantees, on a comparative basis.
This is the first time since inception of LGT Venture Philanthropy that we have undertaken such as a survey – and it was worth it.
We are excited that the results of the survey clearly show that we achieve our goals as a catalytic core funder and strategic, long-term partner to our portfolio, and that our portfolio organizations appreciate our hands-on support, local presence and team. At the same time, we gained some valuable insights around ways to optimize aspects of our investment process and engagement approach.
In the spirit of full transparency and that you might find these insights useful, you can find the summary of results and recommendations here.
We want to say thank you to all of those who took the time to respond to the survey and help us improve as a funder. We take your feedback seriously!
