Vision, mission and history of LGT Venture Philanthropy

LGT Venture Philanthropy's mission is to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people, contribute to healthy ecosystems, and build resilient, inclusive and prosperous communities.

In 2007, LGT’s CEO H.S.H. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein founded LGT Venture Philanthropy. It is an expression of the Princely family’s and LGT’s deep commitment to social accountability and thinking and acting in a responsible and long-term manner. In addition to LGT Group’s broader sustainability efforts, LGT VP supports and invests in organizations and companies that contribute directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"We envisage a world in which all human beings have a fair chance to develop their potential, become productive members of society, and live under dignified conditions."

Long-term perspective
We take a long-term perspective: supporting the growth of our portfolio companies and organizations, creating sustainable positive impact, and offering our team an environment to thrive in.

Entrepreneurial approach
We believe that an entrepreneurial approach is one of the key drivers to successfully implement and grow innovative solutions to social and environmental problems. We share an entrepreneurial mindset with all our partners.

Competence
We pursue a broad regional and multi-sector approach. Our local teams have diverse backgrounds and are based in the regions where we operate. Our team combines a broad skillset with sector and regional know-how that enables us to identify the most effective solutions and scalable models.

Collaboration
We work and succeed as partners. We embrace cultural diversity and strive to foster an honest, open and constructive dialogue with all our stakeholders. We believe that true teamwork is the key to the quality of our work. We listen, value and respect the views of others, and above all the disadvantaged people we strive to serve with our work.

"LGT Venture Philanthropy has been a staunch supporter of Educate Girls’ initiatives in Rajasthan since 2011. Their continued support has helped us bring more out-of-school girls back to school with significantly improved learning outcomes. They have helped us achieve landmark milestones in our programs as well as promote our work at global platforms."
