Continued support to our partners fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in India and Africa

As the pandemic continues to wreak havoc, LGT Venture Philanthropy stands by partners and portfolio organizations and has renewed emergency support.

Recognizing how uncertainty plagues our global community, our key currency is trust. Like our respected peers, we commit to listen to, learn from and trust our portfolio; together adapting to the needs of this time. In April 2020 we committed USD 2.4 million unrestricted funding to enable them to continue doing their work in response to the COVID-19 crisis and were humbled by their use of funds.

We remain convinced that the most effective way for us to respond to the ongoing pandemic in a sustainable and scalable way is predominately through our portfolio organizations and working with our network and partners.

This year LGT VP is renewing the commitment to support partners in the following ways:

  • A renewal of the Emergency Funding Facility – we have made an additional USD 1.3 million unrestricted funds available for our Indian portfolio to access. These funds will be used to increase access to oxygen, improve their financial resilience, and strengthen their operations to continue serving their communities
  • A partnership with Africa CDC – we have joined forces with philanthropic funders and committed USD 500’000 to support the rollout of vaccinations
  • Flexibility with regards to impact and contractual milestones among our portfolio organizations
  • Actively identifying and enabling collaboration opportunities
