Rocket Learning Transforming the world’s largest daycare network into a powerhouse of learning and play

Today, children in India under age six – who make up one quarter of the world’s most underserved children – are surrounded by loving caregivers who want the best for them but possess limited knowledge and resources.

Using science-based content, AI-enabled technology, and human-centred design, Rocket Learning supports daycare workers and families with the tools, skills, and resources to unlock children’s full potential. It helps children at government-run and funded daycare centres (known as Anganwadis) prepare for primary school by:

  • training Anganwadi workers to provide better early learning.
  • helping parents understand and support their child’s needs.
  • formalising Early Childhood Education (ECE) as a core policy responsibility.

Our commitment

We are investing in Rocket Learning as part of LGT Venture Philanthropy’s (LGT VP) commitment to ensure quality access to Early Childhood Development (ECD) in India. We support Rocket Learning’s engagement with government daycare systems in the following key areas.

Business expertise

  • Exploring innovation and expansion of Rocket Learning’s model across new states, age groups, and components of nurturing care for children.
  • Providing thought leadership and an external perspective on expansion, systems change, and communications.
  • Offering business acumen and expertise through the LGT VP Impact Fellowship Programme.

Partnership

  • Connecting Rocket Learning with funders and experts, and leveraging synergies with our portfolio organisations across India and Africa.

Organisational development

  • Informing and improving Rocket Learning’s interventions through technology and AI support.
  • Building organisational resilience through strengthening human resource systems to ensure high-quality training and programme delivery at scale.

Impact in 2024

  • Rocket Learning operates in 270,000 government-run Anganwadi daycare centres.
  • These centres are spread across 140 districts in 10 Indian states.
  • The organization supports over 250,000 Anganwadi workers, which is 20% of India's total Anganwadi workforce.
  • Since its founding, Rocket Learning has reached more than 4 million children.

Early childhood development is one of the most critical yet under-recognised human capital investments of our time. If we are to shift outcomes at scale, we must invest in research, systems change, and field-building - not just service delivery. Our collaboration with LGT Venture Philanthropy reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the ECD ecosystem in India and the world, and advancing thoughtful, evidence-led leadership across the sector.
