Ahueni Carbon finance for improved livelihoods

Ahueni is a corporation established by a consortium of impact-motivated donors with the purpose of developing carbon finance in the Greater Maasai Mara ecosystem. Based in Switzerland and Kenya, Ahueni supports not only the development of carbon projects with tradable CO2 certificates for investors, but also income for local communities guided by the principles of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs). This focus on transparency and scalable, reliable practices aims to set a new standard for carbon-offset programs, which, along with emission reduction, can help to curb global warming.
