LGT Venture Philanthropy has renewed its partnership with Instiglio to advance government effectiveness through results-based finance, AI-driven performance management, and expansion of its Government Empowerment Network.
LGT Venture Philanthropy (LGT VP) is pleased to announce the renewal of its partnership with Instiglio, a global leader in results-based finance (RBF) and performance management for public institutions. This follow-on grant builds on the initial collaboration launched in August 2024, which focused on strengthening critical organisational capabilities to deliver on Instiglio’s 100x impact 5-year strategy.
The renewed grant will support four strategic priorities:
Driving effectiveness in global development
Despite over $5 trillion in annual public spending across low- and middle-income countries, development outcomes remain inconsistent. For example, according to a World Bank review, 48% of evaluated public education programmes showed no positive impact on learning outcomes, underscoring the need for more effective public service delivery. Instiglio addresses this challenge by embedding performance management systems and incentive structures within governments and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). Its approach shifts the focus from inputs to measurable outcomes, enabling institutions to deliver tangible impact.
Progress and resilience amid shifting aid landscapes
Instiglio successfully delivered on key targets in the initial year of the partnership, including launching GEN in Uganda and securing new philanthropic contributions. Its mission and strategic ambition remain unchanged despite downward trends in foreign aid. Instiglio focuses on key enablers of long-term success, such as partnership development, strong talent management systems, and high-quality delivery.
"Instiglio continues to demonstrate resilience and innovation in the face of shifting global aid dynamics," said Marcia Parada, Investment Director at LGT VP. "Their work with governments and DFIs is critical to ensuring that public spending delivers real results for communities."
Alignment with LGT VP’s "Thriving Communities" Strategy
This renewed partnership aligns with LGT VP’s 2024–2028 strategy, which supports solutions tackling systemic barriers in education, health, and the environment. By investing in intermediaries like Instiglio, LGT VP aims to catalyse financing flows toward solutions that deliver measurable impact.
"We are deeply thankful for the ongoing partnership with LGT Venture Philanthropy," said Avnish Gungadurdoss, Manager Partner and Co-Founder of Instiglio. "This is an exciting time at Instiglio, and this collaboration will ensure we continue expanding knowledge around results-based approaches, leveraging AI for performance management and impact, and scaling our network of public sector champions around the world. We look forward to building on the momentum we have forged together and continuing this important work."
