Last Mile Health Expanding the reach of critical healthcare in remote locations

Founded in 2007, Last Mile Health (LMH) ipartners with governments to ensure that even the most remote, underserved communities have access to essential primary healthcare. In Liberia, where nearly a third of the population lives more than five kilometres from the nearest health facility, LMH partnered with the Ministry of Health to design, launch and scale the country’s first National Community Health Program. This program has established a professionalized cadre of salaried, supervised, and well-equipped community health workers who are now delivering life-saving care to more than one million people nationwide. Building on its success in Liberia, LMH has been invited to scale community healthcare programs in Malawi, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone.
